Auntie Jewelry, again

It was several months ago that my Aunt’s house was taken by a tornado, but I’m still constantly thinking of things I can send her to help make things better. She mentioned a lot of the jewelry I made in the past was lost, so I immediately began making replacements. Out of the sets I’ve completed so far, the one pictured on the left is my favorite.

I was dying to make something with wire, but I’m a firm believer in jewelry you can wear without feeling too gussied up. A lot of wirewrap tutorials I’ve saved give directions on super fancy earrings, so I wound up kind of creating my own version using basic techniques. I love the multistrand bracelet, too. It’s amazing how pretty it came out for the small amount of effort it took. I restrung a strand of beads that had slightly different hues, weaving through the larger beads on either end and the clasp findings. Like I said, it’s my favorite set so far, so I could write for pages about all the stuff I love.

Simple (beautiful!) jewelry

These sets were for my Aunt. She’s the only person I know who asks for handmade jewelry, so I usually only make jewelry when I make presents for her. Sadly, the box I sent with these lovelies was badly crushed in the mail and arrived with its contents falling out. Apparently one set of earrings was missing and one of the bracelets was broken, so I’m glad I took pictures beforehand.

I’m very happy with how they came out. I haven’t done off-loom bead weaving before, but it was a lot of fun and I love the results. The instructions are from the free section of Bead Patterns, and they were very easy to follow. More pictures after the break!
